John Nicole presents an instrumental track that is a vacation for the mind.

"Curacao Blue", (my personal favorite song on the album),  seems to tell a story; a passage of time in a day, sounds of the ocean, a thunderstorm, birds, and once more the waves are sprinkled along the eclectic track. Your imagination is able to play where it will, and if John were to do an album of tracks similar to this world-hopping theme, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But if he did an album of similar songs, it wouldn't reflect his eclectic influences or personal style. Still, it would be an intriguing idea if he were to take up the change and play around with this more.

Of all of this artist's songs, this is among my favorites. Awash in azure blues, I feel carried away with the rhythm of the ocean tides, blue water, rain, then sun, and then somehow, the hope that will inevitably follow the storm. This song is not only uplifting, but impermeable in my mind and soul.

“Curacao Blue” is a humid, flute-driven instrumental ballad, made complete by a series of jungle sound effects.

[INSTRUMENTAL]

inside track
After visiting the island of Curacao a few years ago, this song was written to reflect the beauty and tropical solitude of the experience.  Like a number of songs, this one was originally slated to include lyrics.  But after listening to the instrumental version, the lyrics were discarded because I thought the lyrics might interfere with a listener’s ability to create their own images.   Incidentally, while growing up in Florida, a friend from Cuba explained how he would beat the surface of the water with his hands while chanting the phrase “cuda, cuda: come la gente” which was supposed to scare away the barracuda.  You can hear the chant near the end of the song which roughly translated means “barracuda: they eat the people.”
